# Discount codes

> Your Shopify discount codes work at checkout automatically

Discount codes you create in Shopify work on your Apptics checkout with no
extra setup. A shopper enters the code, the discount is validated against
Shopify, and the total updates instantly.

## How it works

* Codes are checked in real time — invalid or expired codes are rejected
  with a clear message to the shopper.
* The discounted total is calculated server-side, so the price charged
  always matches the discount rules you set in Shopify.
* The discount carries through to the order in Shopify, so your reporting
  stays consistent.

## Showing or hiding the code field

The discount code field is part of your checkout design — select the order
summary in the designer to toggle it on or off, then publish.
