# Use your own checkout domain

> Serve checkout from a branded subdomain like checkout.yourstore.com

By default your checkout runs on an Apptics URL. Connecting your own
subdomain keeps shoppers on your brand for the entire purchase.

## Before you start

* You need access to your domain's DNS settings (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, etc.).
* Pick a subdomain you don't already use — `checkout.yourstore.com` is
  typical.

## Connect your domain

1. In the dashboard, go to **Settings** and open the **Custom Checkout
   Domain** card.
2. Enter your subdomain and add it.
3. A DNS record appears with three values — **Type**, **Name**, and
   **Points to**. Copy each one into a new record at your DNS provider.

Apptics checks your DNS automatically — once the record is live, the domain
activates on its own, usually within a few minutes. There's no verify button
to come back and press.

<Note>
  If the card says custom domains aren't available on your store yet, contact
  support to have them enabled.
</Note>

## After it's active

* Checkout is served from your domain. Older Apptics-hosted links keep
  working and redirect to the branded URL.
* Your SSL certificate is issued and renewed for you.
* Removing the domain moves checkout back to your default hosted domain at
  any time.

## Troubleshooting

**Still pending after an hour?** DNS changes can take time to propagate.
Confirm the record at your DNS provider matches the **Name** and **Points
to** values exactly as shown in the dashboard.
